Markerstudy Driving Tuition scheme — appetite & decline criteria

Overview: minimum 15 tuition hours per week. Proposer age 27–70 (ages 27–29 are restricted to Grade A instructors with no secondary occupation). Vehicle value up to £35,000 on comprehensive, vehicle age up to 15 years, ABI vehicle groups 1–30. UK residency minimum 5 years. Engine size under 2,201cc (2,201cc+ must be referred).

Decline outright: TPF&T or TPO cover requested; Q-registered vehicles; Northern Ireland risks; left-hand drive or convertible vehicles; any driver previously refused, cancelled, declined, or given special terms by a prior insurer; non-motoring convictions; property type of caravan (sited or unsited), static caravan, chalet, squat, houseboat, boat/barge, no fixed abode, caravan site, mobile home, hostel, or unknown; postcodes starting BT, JE, IM, or GY (unacceptable for all transactions); numerous specific conviction codes (e.g. BA, CD80/90, DD-series, DR-series, MR-series, NE99, TT99, UT50) — check the code against the table before quoting.

Refer to underwriters (not automatic decline, but never quote without sign-off): vehicle value over £35,000; vehicle age over 15 years; ABI group over 30; engine size 2,201cc+; single-vehicle accidents of any kind; any fault claim over £10,000; proposer age 70+; a driving ban within the last 5 years.

Claims cap: maximum of 3 fault or non-fault claims allowed per risk in the last 3 years.
