## ERS Driving Tuition scheme — appetite & decline criteria

Overview: minimum 15 tuition hours per week for all instructors.
Off-road tuition: minimum pupil age 14. SDP restriction for
non-instructor drivers: 25+. Leased vehicles: 12 months minimum lease
(6 months for PDI badge holders).

Decline outright: driver age under 22, or age unknown; any
disqualification greater than 6 months; one or more conviction in the
last 5 years from codes AC, BA, DD, DG, DR, LC, TT, UT, or XX; 4 or
more non-fault claims, or 4 or more fault claims; a vehicle that
doesn't rate on the vehicle-age table (defaults to decline); mirrored,
introductory, or enhanced NCB — the only exception is franchise NCB
from a recognised scheme such as BSM or Red; negligent tuition, which
isn't covered on this scheme.

Vehicles — always decline: high performance/sports/exotic vehicles,
hot hatches (e.g. Fiesta ST, Mini Cooper JCW, Hyundai i20N), grey
imports, Mitsubishi Evo and Subaru Impreza, vans, all Audi "Q" models,
all BMW "I"/"X"/"M" models, all Mercedes "G" models (including
GLA/GLC/GLE/GLS), all Land Rover/Range Rover models, all Jaguar models,
all Tesla models, all 4x4s, any modified vehicle other than dual
controls/disability adaptations, Axiam/microcars, and Chinese EVs —
with the exception that BYD Atto and Dolphin models are accepted.

Second-occupation decline list: amusement/slot machine operators,
antique dealers, fast food/night club/casino connections, entertainment
industry, motor trade, armed forces, bus/coach drivers, commission
agents, construction, courier/dispatch, dockers, education/school
employees, fairground employees, fashion models, foreign
service/diplomats, gas/oil rig crew, street traders, scrap/waste/metal
dealers, ice cream sales, itinerant merchants, journalists, lorry/van
drivers, market traders, merchant navy, motor mechanics, nannies/au
pairs/childminders, professional sportspeople, roofers/scaffolders,
social/support workers, taxi/private hire drivers, and unemployed.

PDI progression — key dates to diary: a PDI must pass Parts 1 & 2 and
complete 40 hours of training before attempting Part 3, with a maximum
of 3 attempts. Two routes: unpaid lessons with no time limit, but
diarise a 6-month progress check; or the Pink Badge route, where
lessons can be charged for, valid for 6 months only — an extension must
be evidenced or an RTA letter must be issued and the policy cancelled.
